The iconic Ebell of Los Angeles hosted Allison and Matthew’s unforgettable celebration, blending Old Hollywood glamour with celestial elegance and moody Dutch still life influences. From the start, I knew this wedding would be something special. Not to mention having another chance to experience destination planning, I couldn’t pass it up. My clients had a deep love for the city’s cinematic charm, they wanted a celebration that felt classic, romantic, and uniquely theirs.
The Ebell of Los Angeles provided the perfect backdrop. Built in 1927, this historic venue is rich in heritage and architectural grandeur. With its Spanish Revival design, ornate ironwork, and glowing chandeliers, the venue instantly transported guests into a different era. It’s not just a venue—it’s a character in the story, steeped in the same glamour and cultural legacy the couple holds dear.

The clients and I came together using our Planning Partnership service. Our design leaned into celestial motifs, vintage opulence, and moody romance. We curated a palette of deep blues, rich burgundy, and warm golds—colors that echoed the richness of a 1940s film set.
The tablescapes, featuring florals by @stillcarnations, were lush and layered—think exotic blooms, trailing greenery, and dramatic tones. Gold-rimmed glassware and candlelight added that gilded glow, enhancing the room’s already luminous charm.
To elevate the storytelling, invitations by @gatespaperco wove in texture, celestial art, and metallic details. From there, custom signage extended the motif across the venue—anchoring the visual theme and keeping each touchpoint cohesive.
And for the ultimate wow moment? A vintage movie projection on the venue’s façade—an homage to their love of film, and a beautiful tie to the historic glamour of the Ebell.
All of it was captured masterfully by @laurencatephoto and @sunshinecinemaweddings, who documented the emotion and atmosphere with care and artistry.

No glamorous evening is complete without music, and this one was unforgettable. An 11-piece big band led by @alexmendham brought the room to life with jazz standards and cinematic classics. From the couple’s romantic first dance to the vibrant energy on the dance floor, it felt like being transported into a scene from an old Hollywood film.
To elevate the guest experience, we introduced a series of playful, immersive elements.
The vintage-inspired photo booth by @papermoonshoppe was a crowd favorite. With a surreal celestial backdrop, it offered guests timeless portraits that felt equal parts editorial and nostalgic.
Adding an element of fun and flair, casino tables from @fhcevents gave the celebration a Gatsby-era twist. Guests laughed, played, and sipped cocktails in style—fully embracing the glamorous energy of the evening.
Of all the magical details, the projected film remains my favorite. It captured the heart of the couple’s love for cinema and wrapped the evening in nostalgia and wonder. The glow against the Ebell’s façade, the laughter from the guests, and the dreamy music floating through the night—it all came together in a moment I’ll never forget.

Planning this wedding was a creative dream. With a clear vision and a trust in the process, Allison and Matthew allowed us to design something deeply personal, story-driven, and rich in detail. The Ebell of Los Angeles was more than a venue—it was the soul of the celebration, grounding every design decision in heritage, beauty, and undeniable glamour.
From celestial themes to casino tables, from artful florals to jazz-filled ballrooms—this wedding was a love letter to Los Angeles, to Old Hollywood, and to the timeless power of design.
