As an LA event planner, I’m often asked to design weddings that go beyond tradition—and Laura and Charlie’s Fig House wedding was exactly that. After fifteen years together, they wanted a day that reflected their life, their style, and the people they love most. Their vision wasn’t about soft palettes or formalities. Instead, it was about creating something bold, playful, and design-forward—where every detail felt intentional but never overdone.
At Jasper & Lane Events, we specialize in crafting celebrations that strike the right balance: high on style, thoughtful in flow, and deeply personal to each couple. For us, it’s never about overloading a space with trends or forcing formality where it doesn’t belong. It’s about curating an experience that feels elevated, yet still invites guests to relax, connect, and celebrate.
Choosing The Fig House as the venue wasn’t just about location—it was about finding a space that matched the couple’s design-forward mindset. Tucked into LA’s Highland Park neighborhood, The Fig House is both a versatile and visually distinct venue—perfect for couples working with an LA event planner who values creative freedom.
With that in mind, we intentionally leaned into color rather than playing it safe. Vibrant greens and saturated blues anchored the palette, layered with playful pops of coral and textured florals by Natalie Blooms. The floral installations weren’t just centerpieces—they became part of the venue’s architecture, moving with the space and amplifying its natural energy.
To bring this vision to life, Laura and Charlie booked Jasper & Lane for Design + Wedding Management. This meant we collaborated closely on both the creative direction and the event execution. From early design conversations to sourcing rentals, curating layouts, and managing the vendor team, the process was fully integrated. The result was a wedding that was visually bold and thoughtfully orchestrated—seamless for their guests and fully reflective of who they are as a couple.
This level of collaboration lets couples focus on the fun parts of planning, while knowing the day-of logistics and behind-the-scenes coordination are fully covered.
To complement the Fig House aesthetic, we curated a mix of modern and vintage-inspired rentals from Archive Rentals. Each piece was selected to enhance the design, not compete with it. Sleek signage and artful florals framed the event, creating a layered, editorial feel that was bold but never overwhelming.
Of course, beautiful design is just one piece of the puzzle. As an event planner, I always focus just as much on how a wedding feels as how it looks. For Laura and Charlie, guest experience was a priority from the beginning. They wanted their wedding to unfold like the best kind of party—effortless, immersive, and memorable.
After the ceremony, guests transitioned into cocktail hour in the courtyard, moving easily between garden drinks and The Fig House’s colorful interiors. This seamless shift from one part of the day to the next was intentional. We created flow points that encouraged movement without forcing it, allowing guests to settle in and enjoy the night at their own pace.
As the evening progressed, the energy naturally shifted into dinner and dancing, with Good Mood setting the perfect soundtrack. Meanwhile, the Majestic Photo Booth’s photo booth became a gathering spot for playful moments. Nicole Bakes Cakes delivered a dessert experience that felt elevated but completely unpretentious.
This kind of effortless experience doesn’t happen by chance—it’s the result of careful planning, creative direction, and working with a team who understands the importance of guest flow. That’s exactly what an LA event planner brings to the table.
When I asked Laura and Charlie what their favorite part of the day was, they said simply:
“Everything! How it all came together and we got to enjoy it with the people we love.”
That response is always the goal.
The best weddings aren’t just about the design—they’re about crafting a day that feels true to the couple from start to finish. For Laura and Charlie, that meant embracing bold color, balancing structure with ease, and creating a guest experience that felt natural rather than overly produced.
The couple’s personal styling also reflected this approach. Laura wore a two-look ensemble from Anthropologie’s BHLDN line—a bridal skirt and two separate tops for ceremony and reception. The look was chic, unfussy, and completely aligned with the venue’s vibe. Charlie kept it classic in a Brooks Brothers suit, staying sharp but approachable.
For hair and makeup, Angeleno Beauty created a polished yet relaxed look that allowed Laura to feel like herself while still stepping into something elevated for the day.
Working with the right photographer was crucial to maintaining the tone of the event. Jake Fosmire’s editorial-meets-documentary style captured not just the details of the design, but the actual energy of the day. His images feel considered but never forced—a reflection of the event itself.
Working with the right creative team is key to bringing a bold wedding design to life. For this Los Angeles wedding, we collaborated with vendors who shared the couple’s vision and understood the value of guest-centered design.

When asked what they’d do differently, Laura and Charlie didn’t hesitate:
“Pick a planner first.”
It’s advice I give all the time. Working with an event planner from the beginning allows you to align design, logistics, and vendor choices early—making the process smoother, more creative, and less stressful. It’s not just about checking boxes; it’s about building a team that supports your vision from day one.
At Jasper & Lane Events, we help couples design weddings that are bold, personal, and fully immersive. If you’re planning a Fig House wedding or searching for an LA event planner who can help bring your creative vision to life, let’s connect.
