In the heart of San Diego, the iconic Lafayette Hotel recently unveiled its stunning remodel, restoring its vintage charm with a fresh, modern edge. I collaborated with an extraordinary team of local vendors to create a styled shoot in a beloved San Diego landmark. Our goal was to showcase the hotel’s renewed beauty and unique aesthetic. This project was a labor of love (we even battled the rain) I’m so pleased with how this styled shoot in this iconic hotel turned out. A Vision of Maximalist Elegance

First, I knew I wanted to partner with my excellent photographer friend Kylie of KBady Photography. Subsequently, we spent months looking for the perfect venue. In 2023, the Lafayette Hotel completed the first phase of it’s 31 million dollar renovation. Kylie and I were desperate to see the venue’s facelift. Overall, the entire hotel leans Maximalist. This design style is about embracing opulence, layering textures. It also infuses vibrant colors to tell a rich, inviting story. For this shoot, I drew from The Lafayette’s glamorous history, creating scenes that mirrored its sophistication. Our team took inspiration from 1960s mod and old Hollywood luxury.

Showcasing Local Talent

This vision came to life through the incredible talent of our local vendor team, each contributing their artistry to elevate the Lafayette’s refreshed interiors. Our florist crafted intricate arrangements in lush, bold hues that paired nicely with our fashion forward looks. The stationer designed ornate invitations that echoed the hotel’s style, while our makeup artist created vintage looks that perfectly captured the essence of the 1960s.

Bringing the Scene to Life

The hotel offers so many vibrant, photo-worthy spaces that each bring something unique to a shoot. We began in the picturesque pool area, a scene that truly makes The Lafayette so special. The poolside setting allowed us to infuse a playful yet refined energy into the shoot and then we moved to The Lobby Bar, which is exciting all on it’s own and then The Beginner’s Diner which is a great place to check out at any time (it’s open 24 hours a day)!

Looking Ahead

Furthermore, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be planning a wedding at The Lafayette in 2026 and can’t wait to bring more magic to this incredible venue! The newly renovated ballroom is a must-see.
